Public Policy
We will dive into the weeds with you to identify and execute your policy goals. I’ve authored national reports on living wages, health care reform, the foreclosures crisis, the pharmaceutical industry, the impact of state expenditures on job creation, and debt collection practices. I also published white papers examining the longitudinal relationship between Seattle’s minimum wage and living wage levels, and examining the impacts of Seattle’s new Democracy Vouchers on racial disparities in political giving.
The Job Gap Report
Montana public television interview (with video graphics straight from the ’80s!) while I was Senior Policy Associate at the Alliance for a Just Society.
Case Study: Childcare Advocacy
Legislative Affairs
As a researcher, legislative operative, and campus leader, I have successfully influenced policymaking.
- Successfully advocated for passage of a Living Wage Ordinance by the King County Council.
- Worked to win the restoration of the Childcare Matching Grant with the Washington State Legislature.
- Laid the groundwork for the University of Washington opening a new $3 million on-campus childcare center.
Advocating for Affirmative Action
I testified while Interim Executive Director of APACE in support of I-1000, a bill that offers fair opportunities to historically marginalized communities.
In addition to my testimony here, this column in Crosscut describes some of my experiences on this project.
Communications
We develop your voice and articulate your brand promise, through sophisticated, multi-channel brand awareness campaigns building your narrative through message development, channel optimization, audience segmentation, and robust analytics. With a track record of more than 100 news media placements — including NPR, CBS News, the Huffington Post, and Bloomberg News — we can deliver earned news media strategy and placements. And I have led an extensive organizational rebranding, managing a creative agency contract in defining our visual style and crafting our brand voice.
Telling a Data-Driven Story
After releasing the Job Gap Report at the Alliance for a Just Society, I spoke with NPR about the state of living wages.
Video Production and Narrative Building
While at the SEIU 775 Benefits Group, I developed a marketing campaign for home caregivers around the new Exempt Certification Benefit Program. The goal was to create awareness amongst caregivers about this cool, new learning opportunity.

Civic Engagement
Multilingual Outreach
Social media is an effective messaging tool because of its precision. It is possible to reach a very specific and wide audience, we are able to track precisely how well the message is received, and we can test ways to best optimize our messaging and channel delivery. We can also target specific audiences, as I did with a campaign around a ballot initiative. I produced two videos targeting Punjabi and Vietnamese language speakers, which yielded impressive results: a combined 27,000 views, 69 shares, 168 likes.
